LANGART was created by Prof. Rose Debenedetti, who has twenty-eight years of experience in the fields of ESL and Foreign Language Education in different countries, educational settings, and levels (elementary school, high school, and college). She specializes in organizing and facilitating professional development seminars on how to use art to teach ESL and FL. She has worked in many educational institutions in this country and abroad. She has a strong practical and theoretical background in interdisciplinary and content-based approaches to language learning.

Professor Debenedetti has pursued academic studies in Argentina, Israel, and the United States. She is currently working at a college level in different institutions. As such, she brings her professional expertise and multicultural background to work in the area of Cultural Diversity. She has also designed and developed two innovative college-level courses: Learning English through Short Stories and Learning English through Art. In addition, she has presented workshops for teachers at local museums and institutions, including, among others, The National Gallery of Art, American University, and Georgetown University (2004 National Summer Institute "The Art of Teaching Italian through Art"). In 2007 Prof. Debenedetti was invited to Rome, and served as a scholar and faculty member in the "Art of Teaching Italian through Art in Rome, Italy." She has also contributed with The Phillips Collection in the award-winning Art of the City Teaching Kit (K-12) and the Modigliani Beyond Myth Teachers Kit (2005). In March 2008, Professor Debenedetti presented "Teaching and Learning Languages through art" in the annual NECTFL (Northeast Conference on the Teaching Foreign Languages) held in New York.
