This organization was created to provide professional development training for ESL (English as a Second Language) and FL (Foreign Language) teachers and administrators interested in the integration of language and art.

The goal is to introduce ESL and FL educators to an alternative approach to language teaching and learning by exploring art as a springboard for language development and enrichment. For this purpose, LangArt offers professional development workshops, seminars, and institutes designed to meet the specific needs of different educational institutions including, among others, schools, museums, community- sponsored programs, and colleges.

Through this approach, students are encouraged to practice and improve language skills as they simultaneously learn about art. Integrating art in ESL and FL classes enables the students to combine the four basic skills, i.e., listening, speaking, reading and writing, in a contextualized and communicative way. Moreover, it is the impact of visual art that provides an incredibly rich and inspiring framework for language development. Over the last few years, research in second language acquisition has supported the view that visual education is an appropriate and valid means of developing literacy. Therefore, art can be an engaging medium to help students write imaginatively, articulate ideas, question assumptions, and express feelings.
